A unique focus on the nexus between Art, Science & Technology drives the Esther M. Klein Art Gallery's mission to positively promote and impact the cultural life of the immediate neighborhood of University City District/West Philadelphia and the Greater Philadelphia Area with a diverse range of exhibitions, gallery talks, slide and panel discussions and extensive education programs. The gallery is a self-supporting, 501(c)(3) branch of the University City Science Center, the first urban, university-related research park in the United States. With a long history of engaging and socially significant art exhibits, EKG is unique in its role as a proactive Philadelphia venue that promotes and facilitates a truly interactive relationship between art, science and community.

The Secondary Robotics Initiative (SRI) was designed by Velda Morris for the School District of Philadelphia to increase the active participation of students in science, mathematics, engineering and technology (STEM) programs. SRI helps students and teachers see the link between industry and education, thereby helping them to advance their knowledge of technology and empower them to expand their future career opportunities. The purpose of the Secondary Robotics Initiative is to serve as STEM instructional vehicle, with robotics activities for sixth through twelfth graders throughout the School District of Philadelphia. SRI encompasses fifty middle and high schools, offering them related academic and technical support, industry externship programs, and personal enrichment.
