The Esther M. Klein
Art Gallery is a self-supporting branch of
the Science Center, the first urban, university related research
park in the United States. The Esther M. Klein Art Gallery was
established in 1976 and has since supported well over 2000 artists
through solo and group exhibitions. Since 1993 The Esther M.
Klein Art Gallery has engaged over 250
Philadelphia schools and community organizations through
its popular Outreach
Program. The Esther M. Klein Art Gallery is recognized throughout
Philadelphia for the caliber of its exhibitions and the quality
and scope of its community outreach initiatives.
Our Vision
The Esther M. Klein Art Gallery is a critically acclaimed exhibition
venue that emphasizes the importance of art and community. With
a long history of engaging and socially significant art exhibits,
The Esther M. Klein Art Gallery is unique in its role as
a proactive Philadelphia arts venue that promotes and facilitates
a truly interactive relationship between art and community.
Our Mission
To positively promote and impact the cultural life of our immediate
neighborhood of West Philadelphia and the Greater Philadelphia
Area with a diverse range of art exhibitions, gallery talks,
slide and panel discussions, extensive education programs which
include innovative studio workshops facilitated by practicing
Philadelphia artists.
To assure the broadest public access to our programs, all Klein
Gallery events and activities are FREE. In addition, the Klein
Gallery provides roundtrip transportation and lunch for all
visiting schools and student organizations. Our innovative community
outreach initiatives enable The Esther M. Klein Art Gallery
to be
a forum for active participation and involvement in the arts
by a diverse and often underserved public. |
