The Esther M. Klein Art Gallery is pleased to present The Americas, a group exhibition curated by Yucef Merhi that includes 12 female artists from all over the Americas. This exhibition was first open in 2004 at the Galeria Galou in Brooklyn, NY and is now traveling to Philadelphia as its final destination.
The Americas approaches women contemporary art production in relation to the geo-politic distribution of the American continent. It will feature artworks in almost every media, including painting, drawing, photograph, sculpture, video, installation, performance, and digital art.
Participating artists are Jillian McDonald, Canada; Emily Keyishian and Kelly Heaton, US; Marisa Tellería-Díez, Nicaragua; Aixa Requena, Puerto Rico; Monika Bravo, Colombia; Isabel Ron-Pedrique and Patricia Cazorla, Venezuela; Karin Schneider, Brazil; Eugenia Vargas, Chile; Claudia Joskowicz, Bolivia; and Tamara Kostianovsky, Argentina.
All the artists live in the United States. Many of them are based in New York. As a point of convergence and multiculturalism, New York has facilitated trades and agreements that have helped to unify and tight the relationships between the American nations. In this sense, the objective of the exhibition is to establish a visual dialogue platform around the interests and cultural references of each artist, their countries, and the American continent.
